Turn your ideas into action, win seed funding from UNIL and access to the CGIU year-round mentorship programme and annual conference in Nashville

The call is open until 4th January 2023

The Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU) is a University network aimed at engaging students around pressing global challenges.

As a member of the CGIU, UNIL enables its students to take their ideas forward by participating in the network's annual programme of mentoring, exchange sessions, student engagement events, and an annual meeting.

Check out the experience of the UNIL delegation at the San Francisco meetings.

What is in the call for projects

Students, either individually or in groups (max 3 students), apply by creating a Commitment to Action (action plan). These commitments should be ideas and actions that address one of the United Nation Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs), social or environmental challenges on campuses, in communities or in different parts of the world at a small or large scale.

In its selection, UNIL will favour projects that are rather local.

UNIL students whose projects are approved both by CGIU and UNIL may also win seed funding from UNIL (up to USD 2,000 per project and meant also to cover travel and housing during the annual conference).

The application form is available here.

CGIU meeting

The CGIU meeting took place online in 2021 and 2022, bringing together selected students representing over 75 countries, university representatives, topic experts, and celebrities who share there experience during a day of exchanges. The 2023 annual conference is announced in person, at Vanderbilt University, in Nashville from 3 to 5 Mach 2023.
